People in Bajaur have rejected the narrative built by the militants against the ongoing operation in Bajaur by the security forces, saying it is contrary to facts and is a manifestation of their dual policy, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Saturday.
Quoting its sources, the channel reported that the head of militants in the area, Noor Wali, in a statement, had alleged that the security forces were targeting innocent civilians during the operation.
But the truth of the matter was that, they added, that the forces were only targeting the militants, who were mostly foreigners and posed themselves as the saviors of the people. In fact, they are the enemies of the people, sources said, adding that the forces were carrying out the operation to make the future of the residents of the area secure.
National Grand Jirga’s declaration
Meanwhile, in a declaration, the National Grand Jirga in Salarzai has said that not only the home of anyone found facilitating militants will be demolished, but the person would also be expelled from the area and a fine of Rs5 million will also be slapped on him.
The Jirga also announced that there would be a complete ban on the movement of people in Salarzai at night. “If the security forces want to carry out an operation against the militants, it will only be carried out at night, and not during the day,” it added.
The Jirga further said that if militants struck anywhere in the area, the entire Salarzai tribe would go and face them.
Checkpoints will also be set up all over Salarzai, the Jirga said.
It demanded the constitution of a committee, headed by the Supreme Court judges, for probing all operations carried out in the area from 2002 to 2025.
