The committee, formed to determine the criteria for the selection of judges for the constitutional bench (CB) of the Supreme Court (SC), on Saturday sent the matter back to the Judicial Commission after its meeting failed to develop a consensus on the issue, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

The committee also deferred the decision on the review of the performance of high courts’ judges, and will meet again for the purpose.

Justice Jamal Khan Mandokhel chaired the committee meeting.

The committee had been constituted by Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Justice Yahya Afridi, who is also the Judicial Commission head.

It is worth-mentioning here that there exists no formal procedure for the selection of judges of the constitutional bench after the 26th Amendment.
