GB govt to build houses for flood victims in collaboration with federal govt: Spokesmperson

Gilgit-Baltistan government has announced that government will build new houses for affected families in collaboration with the federal government, reported 24NewsHD TV Channel. 

Faizullah Faraq, spokesperson of GB government said that the instructions have been given to further accelerate the rehabilitation of the victims and their first priority is to restore clean water, electricity, roads and communications in all affected areas. During visits to flood hit areas, GB Govt spokesperson met with the victim families and ordered speedy restoration work. 

According to Faizullah Faraq, in Ghizer there was slowdown in restoration work and the negligence in disaster management was also seen, they need to be proactive. He said during yesterday flood around 100 houses were affected, from which 55 are completely destroyed. Moreover, 13 houses and a mosque are at serious risk of washing away, the people from 13 houses have been displaced already. The department of construction and communications also needs to do a lot. Due to the creation of an artificial lake thousands of people cannot travel from the surrounding areas, people are facing serious difficulties.

Provincial government spokesperson Faizullah Faraq also met shepherds who saved many people lives in the village. Faizullah said that he reached the shepherds after walking for many hours and these shepherds saved the lives of 300 people by reporting the incident. The three shepherds includes Wasiyat Khan, Ansar and Muhammad Khan, who told the villagers from the top of mountain. 

Faizullah conveyed the message of CM Gilgit-Baltistan to shepherds and praised their intelligence, courage and sincerity and also said that they will soon be invited by the Chief Minister's Secretariat and will be honored.
