Federal Interior Minister Sheikh Rashid Ahmed has announced a crackdown on petrol smuggling, warning the owners of filling station dealing in the smuggled petrol will face the music.
Prime Minister Imran Khan has directed the Federal Interior Minister to curb the crime in seven days, he said, adding that the owner of petrol pumps doing illegal trade will face a lifetime ban.

The federal minister said $7 billion can be saved by eliminating petrol smuggling and stressed the need for a comprehensive campaign to control the crime. He sought the media role for the purpose.
Minister commends Christians' loyalty
The minister attended a Christmas event at the Capital Development Authority (CDA). He praised Christians’ part for the country’s progress and lauded their loyalty.
The community’s devotion and services for the country are unforgettable, he said and recalled that he was born in a Christian hospital and the community has always supported him in his political struggle. CDA Chairman Amer Ali Ahmed and senior officials attended the event.
