Former caretaker federal minister Gohar Ejaz on Tuesday described the day as a “golden day in Pakistan’s history,” highlighting the successful privatisation of the Pakistan International Airlines (PIA).
Addressing an event, Gohar Ejaz said that Pakistani businessmen had shown confidence in the country by investing locally. He noted that several government institutions had been suffering losses worth billions of rupees, adding that PIA too had been facing serious difficulties for a long time.
He said the privatisation of PIA had opened a new chapter for the national economy and would create new avenues for investment. He appreciated the Arif Habib Consortium for making a record bid, calling it a positive sign for economic revival and investor confidence.
