Akbar S. Babar has filed a petition in the Federal Constitutional Court (FCC) urging the court to declare the appointment of Mahmood Khan Ackakzai as Leader of the Opposition in the National Assembly as null and void, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
Shaukat Aziz Siddiqui filed the petition on behalf of Akbar S. Babar in the Federal Constitutional Court on Monday.
The petitioner stated that Mahmood Khan Achakzai was appointed as Opposition Leader through an illegal process.
He further stated that the Speaker was bound to determine whether the process of appointment was legal or not.
He appealed to the court that the appointment of Mahmood Khan Achakzai should be declared as null and void.
The petitioner urged the court to suspend the notification of appointment till the announcement of the final verdict.
