Leonardo DiCaprio kept his composure and debuted a rare glasses look while leaving the 79th British Academy Film Awards, despite missing out on the Leading Actor award.
The 51 year old actor, nominated for his role in One Battle After Another, left London’s Royal Festival Hall wearing a pair of reading glasses after the action drama scored 14 BAFTA nods.
While DiCaprio did not take home the bronze mask for Leading Actor, which went to Robert Aramayo for I Swear, he appeared relaxed and good natured, even giving a sheepish thumbs up to photographers.
DiCaprio walked the red carpet earlier in a classic black tie suit, accompanied by his co-stars Chase Infiniti and Teyana Taylor, who were nominated for Leading Actress and Supporting Actress, respectively.
Though they also lost in their categories, the film triumphed in Best Film, along with awards for adapted screenplay, cinematography, and editing, ensuring the production celebrated major wins.
The Oscar winning star, seen smiling softly at his phone after stepping into his car, added reading glasses, a rare accessory for the veteran actor, marking a subtle shift from his usual polished red carpet look.
Fans and photographers noted the casual yet sophisticated vibe as he departed the ceremony amid awards season buzz.
Director Paul Thomas Anderson, who helmed One Battle After Another, praised DiCaprio’s dedication during the winner’s press conference. “With Leo, it’s one long run-on sentence. He’s curious, always asking questions, breaking down every scene to cover every possibility,”
This BAFTA appearance adds to DiCaprio’s long history of awards recognition. He previously won in 2016 for The Revenant and has been nominated multiple times for films including The Aviator, The Wolf of Wall Street, and Once Upon a Time in Hollywood.
