The newly formed Rawalpindi franchise has officially announced its team name as “Pindies,” a major development ahead of the 11th edition of the Pakistan Super League season 11, 24NewsHD TV reported on Monday.
The announcement was made through a 25-second video shared on social media, showcasing iconic landmarks of Rawalpindi accompanied by energetic background music.
The promotional clip concluded with a bold caption declaring: “The official name of the Rawalpindi team is here: Pindies. We are fearless, we are here to challenge, bringing new passion, and ready to change the game.”
The franchise also confirmed that the team logo will be unveiled soon.
The development follows significant changes in franchise ownership.
Business group Wali Tech acquired the rights to the former Multan Sultans for Rs2.45 billion during the Pakistan Cricket Board’s bidding process.
After securing ownership, the new management shifted the team’s base from Multan to Rawalpindi and rebranded it under a fresh identity.
Previously, Ali Tareen, the former owner of Multan Sultans, declined to renew the 10-year ownership agreement, prompting the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) to announce a fresh auction for the franchise.
The 11th edition of the Pakistan Super League is scheduled to run from March 26 to May 3, with fans eagerly awaiting the revamped competition.
