Young Doctors in Kohat have announced the closure of Kohat Development Authority (KDA) Hospital in protest over the killing of Lady Dr. Mehwish, who was shot dead by unidentified armed men.
According to police, Dr. Mehwish was attacked on the double road while returning home from duty. She died on the spot after being fired upon by unknown assailants.
Young Doctors Association President Dr. Obaid said the protest would continue until the arrest of those responsible for the murder. The doctors’ community staged a demonstration, demanding immediate apprehension of the accused and raising concerns over the safety of medical professionals, particularly female doctors.
“Even a female doctor could not remain safe,” the Young Doctors said, questioning the security situation in the area.
Following the announcement of the hospital’s closure, patients faced severe difficulties as medical services at KDA Hospital were suspended.
Police have registered a case against unidentified suspects at KDA Police Station on the complaint of the victim’s husband. Authorities said investigations are under way, but the attackers have yet to be identified or arrested.
