Lahore police unveil security plan for election day

Lahore police on Tuesday announced a comprehensive security plan for guarding the general elections 2024 due to be held on February 8, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.


Addressing a press briefing, Capital City Police Officer (CCPO) Lahore Bilal Siddique Kamyana said the police force was providing complete support to the administration and Election Commission for implementation of the code of conduct.


He said more than 30,000 police officers and officials will perform their duties at 4,354 polling stations in the provincial capital.


According to ECP data, 6,858,095 registered voters comprising 3,636,253 males and 3,221,842 females will use their voting right on the election day.


On polling day, more than 4,000 policewomen will also perform their duties.


The CCPO said during election campaign display of weapons, hooliganism, aerial firing and other illegal activities will not be tolerated. Personnel of Dolphin Force, Special Protection Unit and Elite Force will patrol around polling stations on February 8 to maintain law and order and smooth functioning of the polling process.
