Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI) President Maulana Fazlur Rehman has once again accelerated the efforts to revive an old alliance of Pakistan’s key religious parties, 24NewsHD TV reported on Tuesday.
According to the report, Fazl has contacted leaders of the now dysfunctional alliance of religious parties, the Muttahida Majlis-e-Amal (MMA).
Fazl has contacted by phone Islami Tehreek chief Allama Sajid Naqvi, Jamiat Ahle Hadith chief Hafiz Abdul Karim and Maulana Awais Noorani.
According to sources, Fazl has invited the MMA leaders to his residence. At the meeting, coordination among MMA leaders and revival of the MMA will come under discussion.
However, the JUI chief has not invited the Jamaat-e-Islami leadership and Abul Khair Zubair, the chief of his own faction of the Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam, to the upcoming meeting at his residence.
