Pakistan’s T20I squad has suffered a significant dip in the latest ICC Men’s T20I rankings following their dismal performances in the ongoing three-match series against Bangladesh.
With the visitors already trailing 0-2 in the series, only a handful of players managed to register marginal gains, while several others saw notable declines in both batting and bowling standings.
Star batters Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan, who are not part of the squad for the current series, dropped one spot each, now placed 13th and 14th respectively.
Their absence and Pakistan's poor batting show in Mirpur compounded the rankings blow.
One of the few positives was Fakhar Zaman, who climbed eight places to 79th in the batting rankings after a composed 44-run innings in the series opener.
Mohammad Haris, who could muster only four runs across both matches, dropped 20 places to 50th.
Opener Saim Ayub also slipped three spots to 64th after scoring just seven runs, while Hassan Nawaz’s back-to-back ducks led to a 22-place fall, pushing him to 68th.
Captain Salman Ali Agha, struggling for form, saw an 18-place drop, landing at 93rd after scoring a mere 12 runs from 32 balls.
In the bowling department, pacer Abbas Afridi, despite taking three wickets in two games, slipped two places to 22nd.
Mystery spinner Abrar Ahmed made the biggest leap among Pakistani bowlers, surging 12 places to 49th, courtesy of a consistent showing with the ball.
On the global stage, Australia’s Travis Head maintained his position as the top-ranked T20I batter.
India’s Abhishek Sharma and Tilak Varma continued to impress, securing the second and third spots respectively.
New Zealand’s Jacob Duffy held firm as the world’s No. 1 T20I bowler, followed by England’s Adil Rashid and India’s Varun Chakaravarthy.
