In another stunning achievement of high-altitude adventure, Qatari Princess Sheikha Asma Al Thani and Pakistani mountaineers successfully scaled one of the world’s most dangerous mountains, Gasherbrum-I, which towers at a breathtaking 8,068 meters.
According to the 24NewsHD TV channel report, the Pakistani climbers, Mehboob Ali and Abbas Ali, both hailing from Shigar, joined an international expedition that conquered the treacherous peak.
Their successful ascent is being hailed as a landmark accomplishment in Pakistan’s mountaineering history.
Princess Sheikha Asma Al Thani was part of this thrilling expedition, demonstrating not only immense physical strength but also an unwavering commitment to global mountaineering pursuits.
As per the channel report, Qatari Princess Sheikha Asma Al Thani's participation alongside the Pakistani climbers drew international attention and appreciation.
At the summit, the Pakistani flag fluttered proudly, symbolising the spirit and resilience of the nation's climbers. Their efforts have been widely applauded across the world, while prayers continue for the safe return of all climbers to base camp.
This historic achievement signals a bright future for Pakistan’s young mountaineers, as the sons of Shigar have once again set a powerful example for the generations to come.
Their success not only elevates Pakistan’s stature in global mountaineering but also inspires new dreams on the country’s soaring peaks.
It is pertinent to mention here that on July 7, 2025, the 24NewsHD TV channel reported that Qatari Princess Sheikha Asma Al Thani successfully climbed Nanga Parbat, one of Pakistan’s tallest and most dangerous mountains, with a height of 8,126 meters.
Known as the “Killer Mountain” due to its difficult terrain and harsh weather, Nanga Parbat is considered one of the most challenging peaks in the world.
The next day, on July 8, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif appointed Qatari royalty, Sheikha Asma Al Thani, as the official brand ambassador for Pakistan’s mountains and tourism. The announcement came via a statement posted on X (formerly Twitter).
Meeting Princess Sheikha Asma in Islamabad on July 10, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif lauded her accomplishment and underscored the growing partnership between Pakistan and Qatar in the field of adventure tourism.
The PM acknowledged her as the first Qatari woman to summit Nanga Parbat, where she proudly raised her nation’s flag atop one of the most feared and respected summits on Earth.
