Pakistan’s star javelin thrower Arshad Nadeem will compete at the 2026 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, where he is set to defend his men’s javelin title.
Ben Warrington, head of the British High Commission’s Lahore office, shared a video with Nadeem on social media, showing the Olympic gold medallist training for the Games at Punjab Stadium.
In the video, Nadeem is also seen giving Warrington a brief javelin lesson and explaining the correct grip for the throw.
Warrington wished the Pakistani athlete success at the Commonwealth Games and highlighted his role as one of the country’s leading sports figures.
“Best of luck Arshad Nadeem! Pakistan’s Olympic gold medalist is at the 2026 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow to defend his men’s javelin champion title,” Warrington wrote in an Instagram post.
He added that Nadeem would carry Pakistan’s flag at the opening ceremony, before signing off with the Glaswegian expression, “Gie it laldy,” meaning to give it everything.
Nadeem is scheduled to compete in the men’s javelin throw event on August 1.
