The body of seven year old Dua, the only child of her parents, who had gone missing from Maripur area of Karachi, was recovered from the sea near Manora, reported 24NewsHD TV Channel.
According to police, the girl went missing on Tuesday and an FIR had already been registered at Maripur Police Station. Her body was recovered a day later and shifted to Musa Lane through an Edhi ambulance after legal formalities. According to the initial police investigation, the child was murdered.
CCTV footage obtained during the investigation allegedly shows a suspect carrying an empty sack before the incident and later returning with a sack believed to contain the girl's body.
Police officials said the suspect is believed to have attempted to dispose of the body. After obtaining the CCTV footage, Keamari police intensified efforts to arrest the accused and formed a special team to trace him.
The exact cause of death will be confirmed after the post-mortem report, while the investigation into the incident is underway. The family declined to speak to the media, while Dua's uncle also requested rescue officials not to issue any statements.
In another incident, police have registered a case over the alleged rape of an 18 year old girl in Karachi's Gulshan-e-Maymar area on the complaint of her father. According to the FIR, the complainant stated that he works as a carpenter while his wife used at work at homes as cleaner.
He said both had left for work at around 9am, leaving their daughter alone at home. The FIR alleged that two unidentified men entered the house and allegedly sexually assaulted the girl before fleeing the scene.
The complainant said the family rushed home after receiving a call from the victim and immediately informed the police through the emergency helpline. Police have registered a case and launched an investigation into the incident.
The victim's family has demanded the immediate arrest of the suspects and the provision of justice.
