The murderers of Dr Akash Kumar were killed by the firing of their accomplices during police encounter in Gulshan-e-Maimar area of Karachi, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Thursday.
Giving details of the encounter, Special Investigation Unit of the Crime Investigation Agency (SIUCIA) SSP Dr. Samiullah Soomro said that the agency’s team raided a house in Brohi Goth in Gulshan-e-Maimar to arrest the accomplices of suspects, who were already in their custody. “On seeing the personnel, the accomplices started firing at them, resulting in injuries to Suresh, Ram Chandar and Aneel, who later succumbed to their wounds,” SSP Soomro elaborated.
He informed that a police jawan was also injured during an encounter.
The SSP went on to say that the area had been cordoned off and manhunt had been launched.
A week ago, a judicial magistrate granted police week-long physical remand of three suspects in the murder case of the young doctor.
Dr Akash, a doctor at the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC), was killed on Monday after robbers intercepted his vehicle near Teen Talwar and escaped with around Rs2 million that he was carrying after withdrawing cash from a private bank.
