Nurses have expressed concern over a fresh change in their official uniform, saying the decision will place an additional financial burden on them.

The nurses’ uniform has been changed from dark blue to white, only two and a half years after it was switched from white to dark blue.

The latest decision means nurses will have to purchase or get new white uniforms stitched, while their existing dark blue uniforms will become unusable.

Sources said the Pakistan Nursing Council approved the change following a recommendation from the Directorate General of Nursing Punjab. However, the reason for changing the uniform again after such a short period has not been disclosed.

Nurses criticised the decision and said they should not be forced to bear the cost of repeatedly changing their uniforms.

They demanded that the government provide funds or uniforms if it considered the change necessary.

“If the uniform has to be changed, the authorities should bear the expense,” nurses said.

They also questioned why the dark blue uniform was introduced two and a half years ago if it was to be replaced so soon.
