Senator Kamran Murtaza has submitted a calling attention notice in the Senate over the federal government's proposed plan to revise petroleum product prices on a daily basis instead of the existing fortnightly mechanism, reported 24NewsHD TV Channel.
According to the notice, Senator Kamran sought an explanation from the government regarding the reasons behind the proposed policy and the procedure for its implementation.
Kamran Murtaza expressed concern that daily changes in petroleum prices could increase inflation, transport fares and the prices of essential commodities.
The notice also questioned the possible impact of the proposed system on business activities and the cost of living.
The senator further asked the government to explain what measures it plans to take to protect consumers from unusual price fluctuations and requested that details of those safeguards be presented before the Senate.
