Entertainment commentator Dr Ejaz has stirred discussion by weighing in on two separate topics currently making rounds in Pakistan's television industry. He claimed that the drama Zanjeerain closely resembles the Turkish series Çukur and hinting at an off-screen romance involving the cast of the upcoming drama Fanaa.
Dr Ejaz pointed out several similarities between Zanjeerain, written by Farhat Ishtiaq and the acclaimed Turkish crime drama Çukur.
He compared the journey of Zanjeerain's lead character Sarbuland with Yamaç Koçovalı, noting that both come from influential crime families, initially distance themselves from the family business but are eventually forced to return and take charge after a personal tragedy.
He also highlighted similarities between the female characters, saying Shehrbano closely resembles Sena Koçovalı, as both are the protagonists first loves who die tragically, while Rabia shares parallels with Efsun Kent, becoming the emotional support who encourages the hero to leave behind a life of crime.
Dr Ejaz further claimed that the promotional poster of Zanjeerain bears a strong resemblance to that of Çukur.
While clarifying that drawing inspiration from international productions is not unusual, he argued that creators should openly acknowledge their source material by crediting it as an inspiration rather than presenting it as an entirely original concept.
In his next video discussion, Dr Ejaz also touched upon rumours surrounding the upcoming drama Fanaa.
Without naming any actors, he claimed to have heard that romance had blossomed between two people associated with the project during filming in Baku, Azerbaijan.
He jokingly remarked that despite Fanaa featuring one of the industry's biggest female stars, the rumoured romance involved someone else.
He went out that while relationships can naturally develop on film and television sets, personal matters should never interfere with professional commitments.
According to him, when romances begin affecting production schedules, delayed shoots and financial losses can follow, making it important for actors and crew members to keep work and personal life separate.
