The Crime Control Department (CCD) on Tuesday claimed to have uncovered an alleged drug trafficking network supplying drugs to educational institutions, with investigators naming a well-known TikToker, Amreez Baloch, as the alleged mastermind.
According to CCD officials, the network was exposed after a planned intelligence-based operation led to the arrest of Sonia, who was described as a key operative of the group. During the raid, authorities recovered 1,120 grams of high-quality crystal meth ("ice") from her possession.
A case has been registered against Sonia. Officials said she has been shifted to jail in accordance with legal and medical procedures due to her pregnancy.
During the investigation, Sonia allegedly made disclosures identifying TikToker Amreez Baloch as the alleged head of the network. According to investigative sources, the group was involved in supplying crystal meth to students and women.
Police said that acting on information provided by the arrested suspect, CCD teams conducted a raid on Bhakkar Road, during which an accused identified as Waheed was killed. Authorities also stated that another alleged key member of the same network, Basit Shah, had earlier been killed in a separate CCD operation.
Investigators identified the arrested suspect as a resident of Harmalpura and the wife of Munawar Abbas Machhi. According to the investigation, Sonia allegedly confessed that financial hardship and her husband's unemployment led her to enter the drug trade.
She allegedly stated that she procured narcotics from Chak 215 before supplying them to customers. Police said her statement has been made part of the First Information Report (FIR).
Officials added that Sonia has no previous criminal record and that the investigation is continuing in accordance with jail manual provisions applicable to pregnant prisoners.
According to investigators, the accused allegedly used WhatsApp and Snapchat to communicate with customers and with Amreez Baloch. Authorities have decided to seize her mobile phone and send it for forensic examination to trace the alleged online network and its facilitators.
CCD officials said multiple police teams are conducting raids to arrest the absconding suspect, Amreez Baloch, and other individuals allegedly linked to the network.
The allegations against Amreez Baloch are based on the ongoing police investigation, and the accused has not been convicted by any court. The investigation remains in progress.
