Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday greeted the Pakistani nation on Pakistan Day, which is celebrated across the country on March 23. The day marks passage of the Pakistan Resolution on this day in 1940.
In a letter to his Pakistani counterpart Imran Khan, Modi said that India wanted friendly relations with Pakistan. He assured Pakistanis of India’s help in dealing with the coronavirus pandemic. He said that an atmosphere of trust, free of terrorism and enmity was vital for the two countries. “I congratulate the Pakistani nation on Pakistan Day. We want pleasant relations with the people of Pakistan,” Modi wrote.
Pakistan Day or Pakistan Resolution Day, also Republic Day, is a national holiday in Pakistan that commemorates the Lahore Resolution passed on 23 March 1940.
