President Asif Ali Zardari has conferred the Hilal-i-Imtiaz civil award on Inspector General (IG) Punjab Dr Usman Anwar for his contribution in the field of public service, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Saturday.

According to Punjab Police spokesperson, Dr. Usman Anwar, as Inspector General of Police, carried out far-reaching reforms and reorganization of the Punjab Police.

Dr. Usman Anwar was honored for providing police services, electronic monitoring of police stations, welfare of martyred police families and providing them with employment.

His's efforts in the field of information technology and counter-terrorism are very important.

Dr. Usman Anwar's works are prominent in the inclusion of deprived sections of the society, especially transgenders, women, children and weak people in the mainstream.

Punjab IG was awarded the Hilal-i- Imtiaz in recognition of his outstanding services in the field of public services, Punjab Police spokesperson concluded.
