Prime Minister Imran Khan has ordered a swift and immediate inquiry into the tragic PIA crash in Karachi, as he also approved formation of a committee for the purpose, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Saturday.
In this connection, the PM Office has sent written directives to the aviation secretary and the relevant departments, as the prime minister said they should not wait for the federal government’s approval to start a probe, directing to start the process immediately.
Earlier, 24NewsHD TV channel had reported that the federal government late on Friday evening constituted a team to investigate the PIA plane crash.
In a tweet posted on Friday evening, the Civil Aviation Authority shared the news about formation of the four-member inquiry team.

On Saturday, the officials released the death toll in the PIA plane crash, saying all but two of the 99 people on board were killed.
The PIA plane had made multiple approaches to land at Jinnah International Airport in Karachi on Friday afternoon when it came down among houses in a densely populated area.
