An anti-terrorism court in Islamabad on Tuesday granted bail to former prime minister and Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf Chairman Imran Khan in eight cases related to violence during his arrival at the Judicial Complex two months ago while an accountability court approved interim bail to his wife Bushra Bibi in Al-Qadir Trust case, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

PTI Chairman Imran Khan appeared before the court of Judge Raja Jawad Abbas along with his wife Bushra Bibi. 

In a quick hearing on the former prime minister’s petitions, the court granted him interim bail till June 8. 

At the outset of the hearing, the PTI chief’s lawyer argued that Imran was not directly accused of perpetrating the violence, rather he was accused of instigating the violence. 

On this, Judge Jawad Abbas remarked ‘but Imran did not join investigation in any case except one’. 

In March, several cases were lodged against Imran Khan and dozens of his party leaders for their alleged attack on policemen outside the Federal Judicial Complex in Golra, Ramna, Khanna and the CTD police stations under terrorism charges. 

Earlier today, an accountability court granted Imran’s wife Bushra Bibi interim bail in the Al-Qadir Trust case till May 31, stopping the anti-graft watchdog from arresting her. 

The PTI chairman, after securing bail in eight terrorism cases, headed towards the National Accountability Bureau to join an inquiry in the Al-Qadir Trust case.

However, his vehicle broke down at the back door of the accountability court. He changed his vehicle and continued his journey. 

Later, he reached the office of the bureau where he was allowed entry.

‘People being forced to desert PTI at gunpoint’

During an informal talk with the journalists in the courtroom, Imran said that people were not leaving the PTI with their free will, rather they were being forced to desert the party at gunpoint. 

To a question by a journalist whether all the political parties would come on the same page, Imran instead of replying just passed smile. 

In an allusive reference to generals, Imran said: “Politicians appear before the courts along with their families. But no one else appears before the courts. But the time will change.” 

Bushra Bibi granted interim bail in Al-Qadir Trust case till May 31

An accountability court in Islamabad has granted interim bail to Bushra Bibi till May 31 in £190 million Al-Qadir Trust case. The court also stopped the National Accountability Bureau from arresting her in the case, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

Khawaja Haris, Bushra Bibi's lawyer, appeared before the Islamabad Accountability Court Judge Muhammad Bashir and filed an application seeking her interim bail in the case.

Later, PTI Chairman Imran Khan and his wife Bushra Bibi reached the accountability court amid tight security, where Bushra Bibi’s presence in the court was marked.

While accepting Bushra Bibi's interim bail application, Judge Muhammad Bashir directed her to deposit a surety bond of half a million rupees.

During the hearing, lawyer Khawaja Haris said that Bushra Bibi did not receive any notice. The court approved the bail application and stopped the anti-graft watchdog from arresting her. The court accepted the bail application till May 31 and issued a notice to NAB and sought its reply till May 31.

It bears mentioning that Bushra Bibi's protective bail from the Lahore High Court was ending today, upon which the PTI legal team decided to file an interim bail application in the Islamabad High Court and later in the Accountability Court.

Imran Khan is already on bail till May 31 in the Al-Qadir Trust case. 

Bushra travels with Imran Khan

Imran Khan and his wife Bushra Bibi left for twin cities of Islamabad and Rawalpindi from his residence in Zaman Park, Lahore on Tuesday morning to appear before the court to secure their bail in several cases and also join the investigation by the National Accountability Bureau regarding £190 million settlement case.

The NAB Rawalpindi has summoned Imran in a case related to the repatriation of £190 million settlement money from the United Kingdom.

The PTI chief and his wife Bushra Bibi and other accused allegedly adjusted Rs50 billion — £190 million at the time — sent by Britain’s National Crime Agency (NCA) to the Pakistani government as part of the agreement with a property tycoon.

They are also accused of getting undue benefit in the form of over 458 kanals of land at Mouza Bakrala, Sohawa, to establish Al-Qadir University.

The former premier will appear before the NAB at 11am today.

The NAB Rawalpindi has sent a call-up notice to Imran Khan on May 16 and he was required to appear before the anti-graft watchdog on May 22.

But the PTI chairman insisted on appearing before the NAB on May 23 as he is also appearing before the Islamabad courts today to get his bail in several cases.

Imran will answer the questions of the NAB’s combined investigation team. The bureau has directed him to bring the relevant documents along with him.

Previously, the PTI chairman and his wife opted to ignore the call-up notice of the watchdog and did not appear before it.

Imran has departed to Islamabad via Motorway.

The lawyers of Insaf Lawyers Forum are also accompanying him.

Imran condemns Shireen Mazari’s re-arrest 

Earlier, in a tweet posted on Tuesday morning, Imran Khan condemned the re-arrest of senior PTI leader Shireen Mazari.

He tweeted: “Strongly condemn Shireen Mazari's arrest from outside Adiala after her release orders were issued by the court.

“This regime is sinking to new lows . Her health is fragile and subjecting her to this ordeal by rearresting her despite courts giving her bail is simply trying to break her spirit.

“Shireen won’t break as she has more courage than most people I have come across in my life. However, the country is rapidly descending towards becoming a Banana republic where might is right.”
