Punjab government received record revenue of Rs800 billion through epay payments during last five years, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Friday.
Punjab Information Technology Board (PTIB) Chairman Faisal Yousaf said that epay is a joint venture of Punjab Revenue Department and Punjab Information Technology Board (PTIB).
He further said that over 86 million online transactions have been made since October 2019.
Punjab government recovered Rs564 billion under the head of sales tax and Rs39 billion as property tax through epay.
Rs35 billion were collected as token tax while Rs19 billion were generated through traffic challans.
Faisal Yousaf said that as many as 58 million people successfully downloaded the app.
He further revealed that citizens can pay their payments through online as this facility is available in 18 departments for 87 receivables.
He said that epay will pave way for smooth transactions and to get rid of agent mafias.
Faisal Yousaf said that further work for additional facilities in this app is underway.
