Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) team killed three hardcore terrorists while their six colleagues managed to escape from the scene during an intelligence-based operation in Mianwali, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Friday.
A spokesman of the CTD said that after receiving credible intelligence information, the CTD team launched the operation to apprehend the terrorists.
After taking notice of the CTD personnel, the terrorists opened indiscriminate firing on the CTD team in which three terrorists were killed in the firing of their own colleagues and their six colleagues fled the scene.
The CTD spokesman said that they recovered rifles, hand-grenades, bullets and explosive material from the possession of the slain terrorists.
A search operation was later initiated to arrest the terrorists who fled the scene. The CTD teams have already cordoned off Rehmani Khel area.
Meanwhile, the CTD said the process to identify the dead terrorists was under way.
CTD thwarts attack on Bannu post
A policeman was seriously injured when terrorists attacked a police post with heavy weapons in Bannu.
The assailants attacked the police post established in the jurisdiction of Mandan Police Station in Fateh Khel area. The injured cop was later identified as Israr Khan.
After receiving the report of the incident, additional police personnel under the supervision of DIG Sajjad Khan, DPO and SSP CTD rushed to the spot.
A search operation started to arrest the terrorists.
