In Chichawatni, a groom left his bride and wedding guests behind to cast his vote, placing a stamp on the ballot before signing his marriage documents.
According to the 24NewsHD TV channel, dressed in a traditional sherwani, the groom, Hafiz Ghulam Farid, arrived at the polling station along with his wedding party and cast his vote in constituencies NA-143 and PP-203.
Speaking to reporters, he said that voting is a national responsibility even on one’s wedding day.
He added that he is a supporter of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz and voted for the party again today.
Residents of Chichawatni praised the groom’s gesture, calling it an admirable example for the youth.
Strict security arrangements were in place across the Chichawatni constituency, where polling continued peacefully throughout the day.
