The health of Lahore residents is at risk due to smog and pollution with the Air Quality Index (AQI) rate which was recorded at 410, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Sunday.
According to report, Lahore ranked second among the most polluted cities in the world. Karachi is the fourth in the global list as AQI has reached 213.
Besides Lahore, smog reigns in Punjab as Faisalabad's air quality is extremely unhealthy with AQI has crossed 500.
In various areas of Lahore, the pollution rate exceeded 700 like previous day as the pollution rate was recorded at 782 in Gulberg II while the AQ level at Shalimar Road was 547.
The pollution rate in Iqbal Town was 249, Civil Secretariat 247, Saddar Cantt 233, and the AQ level was recorded at 225 in Barki Road, 217 in DHA Phase Five, 206 in Johar Town, 204 in Bedian Road, and 185 in Askari 10.
According to experts, the pollution rate in the air is likely to remain higher than normal.
Experts have instructed citizens to wear masks and take other precautionary measures.
The experts advised citizens should not leave their homes unnecessarily.
In case of breathing or eye discomfort, consult a doctor, keep the doors and windows of urban homes closed as well.
