In a rapidly developing weather event, Cyclone 'Tej,' initially brewing over the Arabian Sea, is poised to escalate into a Very Severe Cyclonic Storm (VSCS) by Sunday night, as per the latest advisory from different international meteorological analysers.
According to the 24News HD TV channel, a 6th alert of the severe cyclone has been issued and suggested that there is a strong likelihood of it evolving into a deep depression within the next 24 hours.
The met analysts also indicated that the storm, which has its origins in the Arabian Sea, is projected to make landfall in the vicinity between Al Ghaidah (Yemen) and Salalah (Oman) in the early hours of October 25th.
This development brings significant concern to regions along the path of Cyclone Tej, with anticipated heavy rainfall and adverse weather conditions in Odisha and West Bengal, stemming from a depression over the Bay of Bengal.
As of the latest update, the VSCS Tej was positioned at 2330 IST on October 21st, approximately 330 km ESE of Socotra (Yemen), 690 km SSE of Salalah (Oman), and 720 km SE of Al Ghaidah (Yemen).
However, the alert said, none of Pakistan’s coastal areas was presently under direct threat as the depression was likely to move either towards the coast of Oman or Yemen in the coming days. As per the reports, the low pressure was presently 1,830 kilometers south-west of Karachi and 1,760 kilometers south of Gwadar, the weather department said.
