Pakistan Super League (PSL) franchise Multan Sultans suffered major blow as Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has issued final notice of termination to Multan Sultans’ owner Ali Tareen for breach of contract, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Thursday.
According to sources, Multan Sultans owner Ali Tareen's repeated criticism of PCB cost him dearly. After Ali Tareen's continuous criticism, the board finally took action.
Multan Sultans' future in jeopardy which is bad news for fans and franchise’s contract is likely to be cancelled.
Board took this tough step after PCB’s patience exhausted.
If Ali Tareen's issues with PCB are not resolved, the 11th edition will be with new owners.
Ali Tareen had also harshly criticized PSL on podcasts and social media.
The board is also conducting a detailed review of the compliance of all teams' contracts.
Multan Sultans is the most expensive franchise in PSL. The team faced heavy losses every year and owners wanted to change the league structure.
If the contract is cancelled, Ali Tareen will not be able to participate in the bidding of new teams.
Multan Sultans introduced as the sixth team of PSL in 2017 and PCB cancelled the contract of Shown Properties in 2018 due to non-payment of fees.
PSL 11 will not be held on traditional dates due to World Cup.
Event expected in 2026 in April or May and schedule may clash with IPL.
