The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) Immigration Tuesday activated the state-of-the-art Scan Line Immigration Control Office at Sialkot Airport, enhancing its capacity to curb illegal immigration and human trafficking, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
According to FIA officials, the office has been established on the instructions of the Gujranwala Director General FIA in collaboration with the International Centre for Migration Policy Development (ICMPD) and the Embassy of Denmark.
The facility is equipped with cutting-edge forensic and IT equipment, enabling authorities to detect fake documents, forged visas, and suspicious passports with greater efficiency. The modern screening process has been developed on international standards to strengthen immigration security.
FIA spokesperson stated that the new system will significantly improve the ability to prevent human trafficking and ensure safe, regular, and orderly migration.
Similar Second Line Immigration Control Offices are already operational in Karachi, Lahore, Islamabad, Multan, and Peshawar. The Sialkot initiative marks another milestone in Pakistan’s cooperation with the European Union to modernize immigration controls.
The FIA reaffirmed that its partnership with ICMPD will continue to expand in order to effectively counter illegal migration and safeguard Pakistan’s borders.
