A woman was gang-raped by four men in Shakargarh, after which police arrested one accused while his colleagues escaped from the scene, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Wednesday.
The incident took place in the Chhani Nagrota area under the jurisdiction of Saddar Police Station.
According to details, a woman residing in Gidar Pur was lured by a man named Rafaqat while she was on her way to Barn Phatak.
Police said that the accused and his colleagues took the woman to a nearby tubewell and raped her.
Soon after the incident, a police team rushed to the spot and arrested one accused, while raids are underway to apprehend other accused. Police also shifted the victim to Tehsil Headquarters Hospital (THQ) for a medical check-up.
The victim woman was later identified as Naseem Bibi. Police also registered a first information report (FIR) against the accused and started an investigation.
