The most famous hill station of Punjab, ‘Murree’ has attracted a large number of tourists during Eid al Fitr holidays particularly on Sunday and Monday, the 24NewsHD TV channel reported on Monday.
This year, five Eid holidays (April 21 to 25) were announced by the government which provided a great recreational opportunity for the citizens.
On the first day of Eid, people remained busy in greeting relatives, friends and near and dear ones. On the second and third day of Eid, they rushed
to recreational places including ‘Queen of the Mountains’ from different areas to enjoy the Eid festivity.
While most of the families have been from the twin cities of Rawalpindi and Islamabad, some people from as far as Lahore have also made the journey.
Galiyat and surrounding areas including Nathiagali and the Hazara belt were the centers of attention for tourists. Bhurban, Ayubia, Mall Road, Kashmir Point, and Pindi Point were also packed with tourists.
However, access became a problem, as long queues of vehicles were seen at Satra Meel Toll Plaza on Murree Road.
Long queues of cars, vans, and buses were witnessed making their way to the region’s favorite tourist spot, adding a festive vibe to the town’s atmosphere.
Families and adventurers alike thronged famous tourist attractions such as Kashmir Point, Pindi Point, Bhurban, Patriata, Ayubia, Nathiagali, and Galiyat over the Eid holidays.
The prominent Mall Road strip has been overflowing with holiday goers to the point of bursting, with people barely finding room to stand or move around as they browse shops or scout the area for a bite to eat.
Much to the delight of the trippers, drizzling in intervals started in Murree and Galiyat, providing them with not only an enjoyable pastime to frolic but also giving them an aesthetic landscape to capture selfies and feed their photography passion.
Rawalpindi district administration had finalized all the arrangements to ensure the security of the visitors and facilitate them, particularly during Eid ul Fitr holidays.
According to a police administration spokesman, City Police Officer (CPO) Rawalpindi Syed Khalid Mehmood Hamdani urged the tourists to observe traffic rules on the roads of Murree to avoid traffic mess and any untoward incident during Eid al Fitr holidays.
The spokesman informed that special teams had been formed to facilitate the tourists, adding, parking of the vehicles was not allowed outside the parking areas. There was a complete ban on illegal parking in Murree.
