Deputy Prime Minister Ishaq Dar made a telephone conversation with Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov on Friday and discussed regional developments.
According to Foreign Office spokesperson, the two leaders discussed bilateral relations and cooperation in multilateral forums to promote international peace and security.
Russian Foreign Minister Lavrov appreciates Pakistan’s constructive role in facilitating talks between Iran and the US. Deputy Prime Minister reiterates Pakistan’s commitment to promoting dialogue and diplomacy to resolve all issues.
The two sides stressed the importance of maintaining regular high-level contacts. The two sides discussed rescheduling Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s visit to Russia at the earliest possible date as per mutual convenience. The Deputy Prime Minister also invited Russian Foreign Minister Lavrov to visit Pakistan. Both sides agreed to remain in touch.
Meanwhile, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar chaired key meeting at Foreign Office to review
regional and global situation. Foreign Secretary Amina Baloch and senior officials participated in the meeting. Ishaq Dar directed FO to promote active diplomacy on priority issues. Dar asserted that Pakistan will intensify diplomatic role in changing situation in the region.
