Islamabad police detain 37 suspects in search operations

Islamabad police conducted large-scale joint grand combing operations across various areas of the federal capital, detaining 37 suspects including an Afghan national, along with a vehicle and 25 motorcycles for further verification, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.

Police officials said on Friday that the operations were carried out in the jurisdictions of Lohi Bher, Shalimar, Aabpara, Bhara Kahu, Humak, Golra, Shams Colony and Kirpa police stations under the supervision of zonal SPs. 

He said lady police officials also participated in the operations to ensure effective checking. During the operations, a total of 684 individuals and 226 households were checked. He said 40 hotels and 80 shops were also inspected during the search.

The official said 266 motorcycles and 101 vehicles were examined during the drive. He said the suspects, vehicle and motorcycles were shifted to relevant police stations for further verification.

The official said a suspect involved in illegal possession of weapons was also arrested and arms along with ammunition were recovered. He said special checking points had been established at entry and exit routes of the city to ensure effective monitoring.

All patrolling units and special squads were actively performing duties across the city, he added.

Senior officers remained present in the field, reviewing security arrangements and ensuring implementation of measures.
