The Government of Pakistan has announced a significant increase in petroleum prices, raising the rates of both petrol and high-speed diesel by Rs26.77 per litre for the upcoming pricing cycle.

According to a press release issued by the Ministry of Energy (Petroleum Division), the revised prices will come into effect from April 25, 2026.

Following the increase, the price of petrol (motor spirit) has been raised to Rs393.35 per litre from Rs366.58, while high-speed diesel has surged to Rs380.19 per litre from Rs353.42.

The sharp hike is expected to have a widespread economic impact, with transport fares likely to rise in the coming days. Analysts also anticipate an increase in the prices of essential commodities, as higher fuel costs typically translate into elevated logistics and supply chain expenses.

The latest revision comes amid ongoing fluctuations in global oil markets and domestic fiscal adjustments, further adding to the financial burden on consumers already facing inflationary pressures.
