In a move seen as an attempt to militarise the Indian Ocean, the Indian Navy’s Western Naval Command has launched large-scale naval exercises, 24NewsHD TV Channel reported on Sunday.
Citing Indian media outlet The Print, the report said the exercises are aimed at testing operational readiness and expanding India’s presence and capabilities in the Indian Ocean.
Observers, however, warn that India’s rapid naval build-up and provocative deployments expose its ambitions to assert regional dominance through military means, posing a grave risk to peace and stability.
According to the channel, the Modi government’s war obsession remains the biggest hurdle to regional prosperity, with its aggressive policies fuelling instability across South Asia.
