As the eighth spell of monsoon rains in the country has begun, the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) on Sunday said that there were risks of flooding in rivers of the Punjab, different cities of the province besides landslides in the mountainous regions, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
The Authority issued an alert for floods in Ravi, Sutlej, Chenab and Jhelum rivers of the province besides their tributaries.
According to the spokesman for the PDMA, there were fears of medium to high flood in the River Chenab, high flood in the River Sutlej at Ganda Singh Wala and medium flood at Head Sulemanki during the next 48 hours.
The Indus River is in low flood at Tarbela, while nullah Basantar in Narowal is also in low flood.
Similarly, there were risks of deluge in nullahs and streams in Dera Ghazi Khan.
The present spell will continue until August 27.
