Adviser to the Finance Minister Khurram Shehzad on Wednesday said that significant progress has been achieved in the privatisation of key state-owned enterprises over the past six months, describing it as a major step toward economic reform, 24NewsHD TV reported.
In a message posted on social media platform X, the adviser said that the privatisation process of the Utility Stores Corporation, Pakistan Agricultural Storage and Services Corporation (PASSCO), Pakistan International Airlines (PIA), and First Women Bank has been completed.
Khurram Shehzad noted that Utility Stores, PASSCO and PIA had long been a heavy burden on the national exchequer, resulting in substantial financial losses.
He said that through privatisation, the government has successfully relieved itself of their financial strain.
The adviser added that reform-oriented measures are also underway for the privatisation of additional state-owned entities, aimed at enhancing economic efficiency and strengthening public finances.
