An eight-year-old child, Wajid Ali, lost his arm after a pet lion attacked him in Lahore in what could be the second such incident within days, reported 24NewsHD TV channel on Saturday.
The incident took place in Dola Farm House, located in the Sabzazar locality of Lahore. During the attack, the lion chewed the arm of the child.
A spokesman of the Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Police said that Wajid Ali went near the lion’s cage while playing in the Farm House.
The spokesman further said that the incident occurred due to the negligence and carelessness of the lion owners. Umar Iqbal and Ali Iqbal are the owners of the Dola Farm House.
The injured child was rushed to the hospital, where doctors were told that the child had been injured when his arm had gone into a machine just to save them.
The doctors in order to save the child’s life cut off his injured arm.
DIG Operations Faisal Kamran took notice of the incident and directed police to take strict action against the owners of the lion. The police immediately arrested the owners of the Dola Farm House.
The injured boy was shifted to Ganga Ram Hospital for further treatment. DIG Faisal Kamran said that no one will be allowed to put others' lives into danger only for the sake of business.
Earlier on Thursday, the police in Lahore had arrested two owners of a pet lioness who attacked and injured a girl a day earlier. The police also seized 11 lions and lionesses being kept by the accused.
The eight-year-old girl was injured in Lahore's Bhekewal village area of Iqbal Town after the lioness attacked her on Wednesday night.
According to police, the child suffered injuries to her leg and ear and was immediately shifted to a hospital.
The lioness had been illegally kept at a private residence in Bhekewal Village, where the incident took place. After the attack, the suspects fled the area along with the animal.
