A bamboo plant has remarkably sprouted from a streetlight near the World Trade Plaza in Shenchang district, Zhejiang province, leaving locals surprised.
According to foreign news agencies, the thin bamboo shoot somehow grew a few centimeters away from the streetlight and entered through a small opening, causing the lamp to become obscured.
Experts noted that bamboo’s extensive root system allows it to grow in low-light conditions, as underground stems can absorb water and nutrients from the soil, enabling growth even without sunlight in the initial stages.
The incident has drawn attention to the plant’s resilience and adaptability, with residents describing it as “virtually indestructible.”
