A devastating landslide buried an entire village in Indonesia’s West Java province, killing at least eight people and leaving more than 80 others missing,

According to authorities, the landslide struck the Bandung area after days of heavy rainfall, sending massive mudflows into a low-lying settlement.
Rescue teams are searching for survivors, while fears remain that the death toll could rise.
Local officials urged residents to stay away from vulnerable and low-lying areas as further rainfall is forecast.
West Bandung's mayor Jeje Ritchie Ismail said the military, police, and volunteers were taking part in the rescue operation.
“Search efforts are ongoing, but conditions remain extremely challenging,” he told reporters.
Indonesia is prone to landslides and flooding during the rainy season.
According to official data, floods and landslides late last year killed around 1,200 people and displaced more than 240,000, particularly on Sumatra island.
