Two ancient statues have been discovered during excavation work at Lea Market in Karachi's old city area, 24NewsHD TV reported on Friday.
According to officials, the statues were unearthed during restoration and rehabilitation work being carried out by the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) at the historic market.
Karachi Mayor shared the development on social media, saying the statues have been shifted to a secure location and will be examined by experts to determine their age, origin and historical importance.
Both statues appear to be in remarkably well-preserved condition despite being buried underground.
Their discovery has generated interest among heritage experts and archaeologists, who are expected to study the artifacts to establish their authenticity and cultural value.
The restoration work at the Old City Area is expected to continue.
