Pakistan People’s Party Chairman Bilawal Bhutto has said that there is no leniency in our hearts for those involved in the incidents of May 9, reported the 24newsHD TV channel.
Speaking on the National Assembly floor on Friday, Bhutto said that May 9 rioters who attacked military installations and memorials of martyrs don’t deserve ‘any leniency’.
The foreign minister said that there were provisions in the law that those involved in such heinous acts be tried in military courts.
He said that the previous government damaged the reputation of Pakistan and they have to restore the confidence of the nation.
“It is the responsibility of the parliament, government, and the judiciary to establish the writ of the state,” FM Bilawal said.
Bilawal Bhutto thanked Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Finance Minister Ishaq Dar for including the budget for the reconstruction and rehabilitation of the flood survivors.
He said the inclusion of flood reconstruction in the budget will enhance Pakistan’s credibility in the eyes of the world community that Islamabad is serious in its efforts to deal with the issue of climate change.
He said that PPP has a cordial relation with Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz and Shehbaz Sharif is also the Prime Minister of the PPP.
“PM Shehbaz Sharif is steering the country in the right direction and steps taken by him for the improvement of the nation’s economy have started yielding results,” he remarked, adding that the promises made by Prime Azam are being fulfilled.
He said that everyone should lend a helping hand to Shehbaz Sharif for the solution to the current economic crisis.
Bilawal Bhutto Zardari said that character assassination is not part of our politics whether we are in the opposition or in the government.
Bilawal Bhutto Zardari said efforts will be made to do politics in a positive manner.
FM Bilawal also urged major powers not to make the war on terrorism controversial and a victim of their geopolitics.
He reiterated that Pakistan was the biggest victim of terrorism as it suffered more casualties than any other country of the world.
He said it is in the interest of Pakistan to eliminate terrorism and extremism for the peace, stability, and prosperity of its own people.
Foreign Minister Bilawal said they have to work day and night to get the country out of problems being faced by the country.
“We have to strengthen Prime Minister Shehbaz, he added.
Bilawal Bhutto said that Finance Minister Ishaq Dar played an important role in running the national economy.
He said his party's fight is against poverty, inflation, and unemployment in the country, not other political parties.
Taking a dig at PTI, he said that PTI considered the country's constitution as a piece of paper, and today, they are hiding behind the same paper.
In an apparent reference to former US president Donald Trump – whose Twitter account was suspended following the attack on Capitol Hill, the PPP Chairman said that the incumbent government did not suspend the social media accounts of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insasf, he lamented.
“We want to promote democracy in this country and a political party should work as a political party, he said adding that we can't remain silent if someone attacks the sensitive installation.
We have to work day and night to get Pakistan out of its problems, Bilawal Bhutto Zardari added.
The Foreign Minister said they will have to present a roadmap for political and economic stability in the country by also involving the reconcilable opposition members.
“We will have to agree on bare minimum agenda for the sake of the country,” he added.
Bilawal called for a collective effort to preserve the democratic system and limit the impact of undemocratic politicians.
