Federal Minister for Health Mustafa Kamal on Tuesday said that complete eradication of poliovirus from our country is not a programme, but it is our national duty, reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
He expressed these views while presiding over a special meeting to review current anti-polio campaign, challenges, and next strategy.
Mustafa Kamal said valuable sacrifices rendered by our brave polio workers are also part of our campaign.
The Federal Minister for Health said that we are fully committed to eradicating polio from Pakistan, and our country should get rid of the polio virus.
He said a comprehensive strategy must be adopted on solid grounds for eradication of polio.
Mustafa Kamal said that a professional new director-general appointed in Federal Directorate of Immunization.
He said that due to the support and cooperation of religious scholars and social workers, a marginal decrease was registered in polio cases.
Focal Person of the Prime Minister on polio, Ayesha Raza Farooq said that due to our combined efforts number of polio cases has reduced.
Ayesha Raza Farooq said that in the West Khyber Pakhtunkhwa “Community Lead Vaccination” strategy provided a simple assessment.
She said that children living in Quetta and Karachi showed improvement in their immune system.
Ayesha Raza Farooq said that the anti-polio campaign is underway with the collaboration of Afghanistan.
