In a diplomatic outreach following reports of a missile attack on a U.S. military base in Qatar allegedly by Iran, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif held separate telephone conversations late Monday night with the ambassadors of Qatar and Saudi Arabia, expressing deep concern over the development and calling for urgent efforts to restore peace in the region.
Speaking to Qatari Ambassador Ali Mubarak Ali Essa Al-Khater, the Prime Minister conveyed Pakistan’s solidarity with the leadership and people of Qatar during what he described as a “difficult and sensitive time.”
He urged immediate steps to de-escalate tensions and reiterated Pakistan’s support for regional stability.
In a separate call with Saudi Ambassador Nawaf bin Saeed Al Malkiy, the Prime Minister echoed his concerns over the evolving situation, stressing the need for joint efforts to prevent further deterioration.
He affirmed that Pakistan would work in close coordination with Saudi Arabia to help advance peace efforts in the Middle East.
Both ambassadors appreciated the Prime Minister’s swift response and expression of solidarity, acknowledging Pakistan’s continued commitment to regional peace and cooperation.
The Saudi envoy agreed that close coordination between Riyadh and Islamabad would be vital in seeking a peaceful resolution to the unfolding crisis.
