Pakistan’s entertainment industry is mourning the loss of renowned singer Tariq Tafu, the beloved voice behind the iconic song Lahore Lahore Aye, who passed away at the age of 58.
According to family sources, Tariq Tafu suddenly experienced severe stomach pain and was rushed to a private hospital in Lahore. Despite receiving medical treatment, he could not recover and passed away, leaving his family, friends and fans devastated.
News of his sudden passing spread quickly across social media, prompting an outpouring of grief from fellow artists, musicians and admirers who remembered him as one of the most recognizable voices in Pakistani music.
Singer Malkoo was among the first artists to pay tribute. Remembering Tariq Tafu, he described him as a kind-hearted and humble person and called him one of the strongest pillars of Pakistan’s music industry. Malkoo prayed for his forgiveness and said the industry had lost one of its true backbone figures.
Veteran actor Firdous Jamal also expressed deep sorrow over the singer’s death. He admitted that he was still struggling to believe the news and described Tariq as a remarkable artist and a worthy son of a great father. Firdous said he was shocked by the loss and felt that 58 was far too young an age to leave the world.
He further prayed for Tariq Tafu, his late parents, and his family, while calling the singer’s passing a major loss for Pakistan’s music fraternity.
Tariq Tafu earned nationwide fame through Lahore Lahore Aye, a song that became synonymous with Lahore’s culture and identity. Over the years, the track transformed into a cultural anthem and remains one of the most celebrated songs associated with the city.
Belonging to a respected musical family, Tariq was the son of legendary composer and tabla maestro Ustad Tafu Khan. He carried forward his family’s artistic legacy and remained closely connected to Pakistan’s music scene throughout his career. He was also the son-in-law of renowned ghazal singer Ustad Ghulam Ali.
