Interior Minister Sheikh Rashid Thursday claimed, “If the opposition has gained the support of some of our parliamentarians, we too have support of some of their MPs who will not vote against the prime minister,” reported 24NewsHD TV channel.
Addressing a press conference in Lahore, the interior minister said that general elections in Pakistan might take place earlier.
“The Director General of Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has been directed to take a stern action against those involved in a smear campaign against the Pakistan Army and the judiciary on social media,” he stated.
Sheikh Rashid said that both Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI) had been allotted separate places for organising their public meetings on the direction of the Supreme Court.
“No request for a public rally from the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) has yet been received,” he maintained and added that the government would not be responsible if any untoward incident took place during the PML-N’s rally.
“From now on, you will get good news,” said Sheikh Rashid and expressed his wish for the progress of democracy and the country.
He also said that the government allies would make final decisions in a day or two, adding that honour was not gained by changing parties.
