Custom team foils bid to smuggle 102 iPhone at Lahore Airport

A collectorate of Customs team deputed at Allama Iqbal International Airport (AIIA) of Lahore foiled a bid to smuggle 102 precious iPhone worth millions of rupees from Thailand to Lahore, reported 24NewsHDTV channel on Monday.

Sources said that Collector Customs Tayyaba Kiyani received credible information regarding smuggling of precious iPhones from Thailand to Pakistan.

She immediately directed all relevant customs teams to remain vigilant for thwarting any attempt of smuggling.

During routine checking of passengers who arrived via Thai Airways flight No.345, the customs team intercepted a passenger who was identified as Malik Shahid Hussain.

During checking of his baggage the customs team recovered 102 iPhones. Later the customs team arrested the passenger and registered a case of smuggling against him.

A spokesman of Pakistan Customs team said that Collector Tayyaba Kiyani directed all customs teams to adopt zero tolerance policy against smuggling. 

She further directed that anyone who found involved in smuggling should be dealt as per law.

Earlier on March 5, 2025, Collectorate of Customs team deputed at Allama Iqbal International Airport (AIIA) conducted a major intelligence-based operation, successfully seizing smuggled goods worth millions of rupees.

The action was taken against passengers arriving from international destinations carrying undeclared goods, including a substantial quantity of medicines and saffron.
