Aamir Khan’s much talked film Sitaare Zameen Par is finally making its OTT debut after months of anticipation and an unconventional release journey.
The heartwarming sports comedy drama will start streaming on Sony LIV from April 3, coinciding with the Good Friday weekend.
The platform teased the release on social media as “a heartwarming story of hope, heart and healing,” building excitement among fans eager to watch it from home.
After its theatrical release in June 2025, the film initially bypassed traditional OTT platforms, premiering as a pay per view rental on YouTube via the Aamir Khan Talkies channel for ₹100.
Aamir Khan later explained that this approach was aimed at protecting the film’s theatrical business, emphasizing his loyalty to cinema halls.
Directed by R S Prasanna, Sitaare Zameen Par is considered a spiritual successor to the 2007 classic Taare Zameen Par. The story follows Gulshan Arora, a hot-headed basketball coach played by Aamir Khan, who is sentenced to community service after a drunk driving incident.
Tasked with coaching a team of neurodivergent players, what starts as punishment becomes a journey of empathy, resilience, and self-discovery.
The film also stars Genelia Deshmukh alongside a talented ensemble of young actors, adding depth and authenticity.
Produced under Aamir Khan Productions with a reported budget of ₹90 crore, the film grossed over ₹265 crore worldwide, emerging as one of the profitable Bollywood hits of 2025.
